Term Kolintang is from Minahasa. Kolintang is made from light local wooden.
The name of Kolintang is from its sound : Tong ( low sound) , Ting ( high sound) , Tang ( normal sound) . In the Minahasa language, the people that invite their relative to play this instrument " Let' s play Ton Ting Tang" like saound kumolintang. Later on its becomes Kolintang.
